Fairytales and Realities
I’ve always lived my life in fairytales that it took me a while to realize that it does suck and that even in make believe, women are always on the far receiving end of the bargain when it comes to relationships. Women always have this unparallel and ironic obsession of love, happiness and the so called ever after that it taints their decisions and obscures their realities. It eliminates the essence of free will, the glory of empowerment and dampens the mirth of life in general.
For instance, Sleeping Beauty waited hundred years before her prince charming kissed her spell away. It might have taken him that long to make up his mind if he was willing to commit to putting his life in danger to fight the evil witch just to save the princess.
Cinderella had to change into a beautiful dress and ride a fancy pumpkin carriage with the help of her fairy godmother just to get noticed by her Prince. But it still took him a while to find her---save for that glass shoes which she had to fit in to! Good thing her step sister was not her size or the story could have changed and she would’ve lived forever in the cinders with all her talking animal friends.
Snow White escaped her evil stepmother and had to live with the seven dwarfs in the woods, bitten a poisoned apple before his knight in shining armor came for her and took her to safety.
Even Rapunzel stayed for years trapped in a tower, deprived of her royalty before her prince charming charged to his rescue! And Belle had to stay trapped in a damned kingdom and kiss a beast to earn her prince and her freedom before going back to his father!
While Ariel had to lose her fish scales for legs and leave her sea life and her family behind to be with his Earthly two legged Prince and fit into his world. Well, talk about tradeoffs! Why can’t he join her world instead?
Talking about all these make believe stuff is like talking about the realities of most romantic relationships and of the roles that a man and woman usually takes.
Men always take their time, while women just have to wait. A woman has to fit in to a man’s world and set everything aside to be with him, even endure a lot of struggles to push through for that happy ever after she so longed for. But is it really all worth it?
A woman always has too much to give reaching to a dangerous point of losing herself in the process. Is that fair?
I know men have to slay dragons, kill witches and fight creatures of the dark kind to get the girl and in real life they do it too, although not literally. Figuratively, they have to kill their ego and fight away temptations to really go all the way. But isn’t this ironic? A man’s ego always comes first while a woman go all the way with everything she’s got, surrendering herself and submitting blindly despite every circumstance without hesitations because it’s what she has to do for the relationship and that’s what it takes to finally get hold of that happiness she’s always been dreaming of.
I think there’s something wrong with the picture right there. Doesn’t a woman have a choice to alter her fate without really trying so hard, without losing herself, without really posing as a damsel in distress, without having to endure so much pain and without having to wait like forever?
Really now, I’m starting to hate fairytales the way I hate reality. Reality bites, and so do fairytales. They both suck!
Now I'm asking myself, is this is me kissing my hopeless romantic, enthusiastic and optimistic self goodbye and embracing the cynical and pessimistic? Well then maybe I’m just changing into a more realistic woman, releasing myself from the bonds of heightened expectations, broken promises and empty dreams that always engulfed me. I have lived in fairytales more that my reality has become it.
Below are a few of the things I’ve been pondering on these past few days leading me to all these fairytales vs. realities metaphor.
A man will treat you the way you allow him to treat you. So never let a man define who you are and don’t ever make him feel more important than your own self. You come first, absolutely not him!
If a man wants you, nothing can ever keep him away because if he doesn’t really want you nothing can make him stay. So it’s time we stop making excuses for our man’s behavior but instead use our intuition to save ourselves from more heartache. C’mon, accept it, you can’t ever control him ‘coz the only one you can control in your relationship is yourself.
Living in the world of false hopes and pretentions leads you nowhere. It only makes you feel worse, pathetic and much worst---miserable! You always have a choice. Besides, if it’s really for you, it’s meant to be and it will happen no matter what. Nothing can really stop someone who’s willing to. There shouldn’t be any excuse for someone who really wants to be with you.
But remember to always work with God’s plan, ‘coz your plans may always falter while his won’t. We are just human—weak, fragile and always dissatisfied so we have to always lean on him for strength and for the will to move ahead.
Relationships are hard, they are never too easy. One day everything’s good and the next you wake up in a mess. So stop trying so hard in making things work. If it’s really meant to be, then in God’s perfect time, it sure would.
So, you should stop changing yourself for a relationship, especially if it’s not meant to work. You'll only frustrate yourself. Slower is always better than you go on building castles in the sand. Know that you can never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy. You always have a choice between happiness and misery. It’s your call.

Director: Banjong Pisanthanakun
Starring: Chantawich Thanasewi, Nuengtida Sophon
Release Date in Thailand: 19 August 2010
Hello Stranger is a romantic comedy Inspired by Korean culture and entertainment that fluxed around Asia. It tells a uniquely fun love story that developed between a guy and a girl who were destined to meet in Seoul during their private trip to South Korea.
According to net sources, “Hello Stranger” was director Banjong's first romantic film, which was inspired by the book “Two Shadows in Korea” (Song Ngao Nai Kao Li) by author Songkalot Bangyikhun. It grossed TH฿125 million (US$4 million) on its local screening in Thailand.
Lead characters Thanasewi and Sophon perfectly portrayed the roles of two complete strangers with different love circumstances who toured South Korea and eventually ending up falling for eachother on their brief rendezvous.
The two main characters decide to tour Korea together after the lead actor unfortunately missed his tour group which was composed of paired lovers that he irritated with his obnoxious remarks.
While on tour, the two kept their names secret from each other so the level of openness between them will be much easier to tolerate and hence, they can both enjoy eachother’s company without getting too attached. However, they decided to give pet names for eachother; Thanasewi was called “Daang” which literally translates to “dog” in Thai because he slept like a rotten dog on the sidewalk when the lead female character (aliased as May) first met him.
Hello Stranger is one of the recent Thai movie offerings milking on the romantic comedy genre, a popularly time-tested box-office hit maker genre that most Korean movies have been known for in the international film scene. It’s Thailand’s top movie offering for 2010 ahead of another popular Thai romantic comedy- themed “First Love.”
The movie was almost entirely filmed in Korea and it featured various set locations that have appeared in internationally popular Korean soap operas/dramas the likes of: Jewel in the Palace, Winter’s Sonata, Stairway to Heaven, among others, that were broadcasted all over Asia which included: Namiseom (Nami) Island, Changdeokgung Palace, Jeju Island, and Teddy Bear Island.
Aside from experiencing Korea’s amazing tourist destinations, urban metropolis and countryside escapes, the two also showcased its rich culture, highlighting old custom and tradition through attending a lavish traditional wedding of May’s online Korean friend and a street festival, and they’ve gotten a taste of its varied delicacies from bizarre street food to yummy looking home cooked meals. They also experienced firsthand Korea’s lifestyle through a night of club partying, shopping, betting and eventually winning in a casino, and even played out a scene from one of Korea’s sappy soap opera with an impersonator who looked just like its lead star. They also got to see, feel and even taste real snow!
Hello Stranger’s plot was atypical in its presentation of a modern fairy tale love story because it was abreast with the current trend since youngsters these days are more aggressive in traveling and exploring tourist destinations abroad utilizing only the powerful information sources from the web and usually relying deeply to foreign strangers’ accounts in social networks, blogs and the instant messengers.
Both of the actors have played their parts quite well which set the film’s light-hearted and fun mood. They were notably convincing in their individual portrayals which also gave the film a spark.
The story telling was fluid and smooth eliminating dead-end scenes that are mostly associated with romantic films. But despite its being a comedy, it will not fail to give you some strong dose of drama but in the right places and on a proper timing. Although the age bracket for this movie could be limited to a younger audience because of the young leads, many (even the old ones) can still relate to its story in some ways.
Hello Stranger is definitely one romantic, feel-good movie any hopeless romantic movie geek would surely appreciate because of its light tone and innocently hilarious humor plus the breathtaking sights and spectacles of South Korea for a treat!

Vanilla Cinnamon French Toast over chitchats
This afternoon, my good friend Tynee/Mika or simply Budz went to see me :-) So i cooked French Toast for the first time which i just recently learned from watching the Nigella Express TV show at the Discovery Channel.
Cooking and baking has become a hobby for me and it has kept me sane throughout the 6-months that i have been staying in the province.
The good thing about cooking and baking is that it does not only keep me preoccupied but it also kept my creative juices overflowing plus it gives me a sense of satisfaction whenever the people i serve my dishes to appreciate and loves what i made.
I used to enjoy eating but now i enjoy cooking more specially that i get to share it with the people dear to me.
Chitchats with friends and family has never been better!
Shout out: One more week and i'll be uber happy! :-)
Next Menu: doughnuts and crinkles

ugly hands= more hardwork
I used to have soft, smooth hands but i just recently realized that my hand have become a bit rougher, it has changed texture and it even does not look the same as it used to be.
But with this realization also comes a metaphoric revelation that a after all these years, i have done so much work that i also grew to become stronger, wiser and tougher not only in the exterior but also in mind and spirit.
The ugliness of the hands may actually be viewed in a different perspective. That i have indeed grown and have has been able to intensively work harder than i used to. This is good right? This is just good.
Without a single speck of vanity, this roughness of the hands is actually a good thing.
Shout out: work harder, earn more!
Sincerely,
Chef of Yar Heart

What to do when you are all too sleepy to work on a boring 8-hour graveyard shift
Like cellphones, we also run out of batteries sometimes and there are times when the mere blink of the eye leads to dozing off towards the inevitable slumber. So how do you keep yourself awake on the verge of sleepiness???
Try either one or two of the following tips:
1. Drink lots of water--- if this won't do the trick, put salt in it to have that "wake me up" kick that your taste buds need
2. Drink coke or coffee--- if this trick won't work, then drink some more until your tummy aches..When this still won't work, then expect that you are already immune to caffeine and you should get yourself checked coz u could be an addict
3. Eat 'til you bloat--- munching on whatever food you have on the fridge can keep your brain busy and of course yous stomach! so grab whatever find and munch on til you drop, puke or better yet poop from too much eating. This might be nasty but saves you from sleeping!

4. Pinch yourself once in a while specially your nose and ears--- if this pinching won't keep you awake, better slap yourself every now and then and if that 's not yet enough, level up to punching..
5. Watch a movie/TV show-- If this makes you more sleepy than you already are better get an earphone connect it to your TV and pump up d volume let's just see if your eardrums won't wake up
6. Click on a porn site once in a while, naked bodies and skin might turn your sleepiness to horniness and it will be much better if your bf/gf is nearby so you can hype up the intensity!
7. This is a silly list but there are still a million dozen things you can do so i'll save it for another post just in case you thought the things written above were helpful in any way...
Shout out for today: sleep!!
Yours,
Chef of Yar Heart
